Ahoy Matey

When not covered in taco meat, our pirate can be very intimidating.

She's at a point now where she's mimicking most of what we say. It's been fun, often fraught with danger, and can lead to some interesting translation foibles. For example, "Bless you" after a sneeze sounds more like "Butt Cheeks". "Holy Moly" is coming out "Armani", and those are just the ones fit for a family website like this.

We'll try to be better about keeping the pictures coming.

Tuesday night is taco night

Monday Morning Mia--Tuesday

Sunday night, Mia woke up around 4am. She wasn't feeling all that well and pretty much just wanted a little extra snuggle time before morning. I picked her up out of her crib and brought her into the kitchen to get some milk. While we were at the fridge, Walter begged to go outside, so I opened the door to let him out. It's at least ten degrees cooler outside and poor Walter just wanted to lay on the cool patio.

Mia and I went over to the couch to drink the milk. Since she's not feeling well she let me snuggle in just a little closer. "Mama?" she asked.
"Yes, Mia?"
"Sy do."

You might not recognize these words. Our southern readers might think Mia wanted to do si do her partner round and round. Others might think she's seen a few too many Norman Bates films for her tender seventeen months.

But I knew exactly what she meant. She was saying, "Outside dog." It was her very first sentence.

Could this kid get any cuter?

Sorry for the delay in posting. Gone are the days of 2 naps, four hours of unlimited internet access for Mom. Mia has made the successful toddler transition to one, and is much happier for it. Mom is still recovering.

Grandma came to visit last weekend and was kind enough to take photos since we have been so lax about doing so. Without further ado:

Tanglewood (prt II)

This has officially become a tradition by now. Each year, when Garrison Keillor rolls into town, right around the July 4th weekend, we pack the kids into the car and head for Tanglewood for an afternoon picnicing on the grass, listening to A Prarie Home Companion. This would be Mia's second trip there (link to our first Tanglewood post). James Taylor was the musical guest this time, which is like Elvis for the Berkshire crowd. Mia got to ride around in an empty igloo cooler, ate tons of pasta salad, and shared some M&M birthday cake. All in, not a bad time.

Our big hope right now is that old man Keillor can leg it out long enough for Mia to have fond memories of these weekends, but just in case he decides to retire before then, we'll make sure to document it each year.

Tanglewood (prt 1)

We'll do a more detailed post on the trip, but while we have access to a great camera, I wanted to post just a few pictures from the weekend. More to follow.
