A day in the park

No not that one. The DeCordova sculpture park in Lincoln. We had once thought of having our wedding there, but CT made more sense from a logistical standpoint. That being said, we love the place, and wile Mia can't contain her enthusiasm at anything below a full roar, if we're going to expose her to art, it's best done outdoors. Nate abided the whole thing like a champ, but we'll be sure to take him back once he can run around and play in the grass as well.

(unfortunately, there were bees in that last piece and Mia got her first bee sting on her arm. The nearby gift shop had some ice for her, and after 2 minutes of crying, more in fear than pain I think, she was back to her bubbly self.)

And just to prove that we were there with them...

Lastly, poor Nate didn't get much time out of the stroller at the museum, so to keep things even, here are a few random shots of him having fun this week.

Learning to Swim

Mia got a quick trip to CT this weekend, while Corrie and Nate stayed back in Boston. Funny enough, it was refreshing for each of us to remember how easy it was to be the parent of one child only. Nate slept relatively well, giving Corrie a peaceful and quiet house, while Mia got to run around and be the center of attention.

As for her time in CT, she saw some goats (cute) at a nearby farm, along with the cows and horses (scary), and got to feed the chickens pancakes for breakfast. A trip to the local lake started off badly, with our girl too afraid to dip her toes, but she quickly overcame that, and plunged repeatedly into the deep end of the kiddy area. More than one mother in CT wants to report me to the authorities, but Mia had a blast anyway.

The family is once again reunited, and both kids are exhausted, as is Walter.

3 Months

Boy, he's a big one!
At Nate's 3 month visit today: 16 lbs, 0.5 oz, and 25 inches.
Mia was 11 lb 14 oz and 23 inches at 3 months. These two are really night and day. Nate will probably taper off right at the same point when Mia really started growing, but it's so strange to see how different their trajectories are.

Nate's baby days are going much too quickly. He's already rolling over, babbling, blowing bubbles and smiling. Before too long he'll be on solid foods, and crawling, and I don't even want to think what else. I make a point of giving him extra kisses each day. Soon he won't be so tiny (relatively speaking) and won't want his mama kissing him so much.

His sister continues to be a riot. She says things like, "This is going to be awesome!" and "Are we going to a restaurant?" and just makes us laugh all the time, even while we struggle with her toddler tantrums and refusal to go to bed at night. She has developed into an outgoing little girl with the power to make her friends follow whatever she's doing. They copy her dance moves, repeat everything she says, and run behind her as she gallops down hills. To say that every day with her is an adventure barely scratches the surface of life with Mia.

Man, are we lucky.

Happy 3 Month Birthday

Today, he's officially done with his "Fourth Trimester". To celebrate, we got him a "Skuut" bike (special bike with no pedals), which of course Mia will just have to keep warm for him until he's old enough to use.

Here's Mia on the Skuut...

...and Walter watching morning cartoons with his sister.
